FAQ

Where are you located?

We are here to provide therapy services throughout Florida and ensure accessibility wherever you are. Our psychotherapy practice occurs exclusively online by utilizing HIPAA-compliant video conferencing technology. Whether you reside in Key West, Miami, Orlando, Pensacola, Tallahassee, or any other city in Florida, we will provide dedicated support for you.

Please note that in-person sessions are only available in Miami, Florida. However, our online therapy option effectively allows us to serve clients throughout the state, regardless of location. We are committed to providing quality care and convenience through our secure and confidential virtual therapy sessions.

What are the office hours?
Our office hours are flexible and can be scheduled upon request, providing a wide range of weekly appointment options. We strive to accommodate our clients’ needs.
What is a free initial phone consultation?

This consultation is an opportunity for a prospective client seeking therapy service to have an introductory conversation with a professional at no cost. It typically involves a scheduled phone call during which the client discusses their needs, concerns, and goals with the professional. The free initial phone consultation allows the client to ask questions, gather information about the therapy approach, and decide whether to proceed.

What does the intake process entail?

You must complete the paperwork at least 24 hours before your scheduled appointment for a smooth process. Failure to do so may result in the automatic cancellation of the session.

During these sessions, you will be asked various questions and may be required to complete questionnaires. These assessments will help your therapist comprehensively understand your concerns from a biopsychosocial perspective.

During the intake assessment, your therapist will ask you to share the reasons for seeking counseling and the goals you want to achieve through therapy. It’s important to note that therapeutic work often begins in the first session. Your therapist will provide insights and recommendations based on your initial discussion, and together, you will create a plan to work toward your goals.

How long is the therapy session?
The standard duration for an hour-long session is 50 minutes. The extra 10 minutes allow for a brief transition period at the end of the session to finalize the schedule for the next appointment and address any administrative tasks. It’s important to note that the 50-minute session fee remains unchanged, regardless of whether we utilize the entire time or if the session concludes earlier. The whole session fee ensures consistency and fairness in scheduling and billing.
Do you accept insurance?

Therapy Is Love (TIL) does not have contracts with any insurance company. However, it’s important to note that you may still be eligible for reimbursement for services received. We recommend contacting your insurance company directly to inquire about your out-of-network benefits and determine the extent of coverage for the care provided by TIL.

To assist you with the reimbursement process, TIL is committed to providing detailed receipts, such as a superbill, that you can submit to your insurance company. These receipts contain all the necessary information, including service dates, descriptions, and associated fees. Submitting these receipts can facilitate reimbursement and potentially receive financial coverage for your out-of-network care.

Please remember that reimbursement eligibility and coverage vary depending on your insurance plan. It is advisable to contact your insurance provider and inquire about the reimbursement process, any required documentation, and the amount of coverage you may receive for out-of-network care.

Why do you not take insurance?

There are several reasons to consider PRIVATE payment over insurance.

Confidentiality: You can maintain strict privacy by paying privately for therapy services. Your diagnosis and treatment information will not appear in your permanent health record or as statements (EOBs) from your insurance company. This discretion can be particularly valuable for individuals who prioritize keeping their therapy journey confidential.

Insurance Impact: Opting for private pay can help protect your life insurance coverage. Insurers may consider your permanent health record when assessing life insurance policies, potentially leading to denials or higher premiums. Keeping your therapy services private can avoid potential impacts on your life insurance eligibility and rates.

No Diagnosis Requirement: When paying privately, you are not required to have a diagnosis to receive therapy services. This privacy contrasts with insurance-based therapy, where a diagnosis is often necessary for coverage. By removing this requirement, private pay allows for more flexibility in the therapeutic process.

Flexible Treatment Options: Private pay eliminates the constraints imposed by insurance companies regarding treatment types, time limits, and specific therapeutic approaches. You can work with your therapist to design a treatment plan tailored to your unique needs and preferences without the limitations imposed by insurance guidelines.

Deductible Considerations: If your health insurance plan has a high deductible, paying privately for therapy can be cost-effective. By bypassing insurance, you can avoid the need to meet the deductible before receiving coverage for therapy services.

Choosing private pay for therapy grants you greater control and flexibility in your treatment journey. It allows for a personalized approach to therapy, protects your privacy, and avoids potential insurance-related limitations or consequences. Please don’t hesitate to reach out if you have further questions or want to discuss payment options. We are here to assist you in making the best decision for your therapeutic needs.

Do you accept credit cards?

Certainly! We accept all major credit cards and debit cards as forms of payment. During the intake process, we will request that you provide a card to keep on file. We will use this card for all transactions, and to process any applicable charges for late or missed appointments will be processed immediately. Due to increased small business credit card fees, all payments are subject to a 3.6% charge.

We do not accept payments in the form of checks or cash. Rest assured that any information regarding your card will remain confidential and secured through our HIPAA-compliant program. We prioritize privacy and adhere to strict confidentiality protocols to protect your sensitive information.

Please let us know any concerns or questions regarding payment options or security; we will gladly assist you.
